Alpha Phi Alpha was founded 103 years ago, today, December 4. It is the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, and was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of Brotherhood among African descendants in this country. Alpha Chi Chapter welcomed 7 new brothers: "Outlaws of a New Era" to the campus in style November 12. On Saturday November 21st, the chapter took home the victory for the Homecoming Stepshow. Congrats, Bruhs!

Beloved Fiskite and Alpha Chi Brother Dr. John Hope Franklin Dies

Renowned historian Dr. John Hope Franklin passed away yesterday in Durham, NC. He was widely regarded as, "the most eminent historian of the African-American experience." Franklin was a 1932 initiate of the Alpha Chi Chapter and graduated from Fisk in 1935. In 2002, the Fisk Library was named for John and his wife Aurelia.
